An Oriental species whose adults have been found on Artiodactyla : Bovidae and Suidae , Carnivora : Canidae and Mustelidae , and Rodentia : Hystricidae . Haemaphysalis hirsuta is a sporadic parasite of humans.

Redescriptions: none

Note: the only known female of Haemaphysalis hirsuta was identified as Haemaphysalis papuana by Anastos (1950), as explained in Hoogstraal et al. (1966a). According to Kolonin (1995b), the description of Haemaphysalis hirsuta in Phang Trong (1977) corresponds, in fact, to Haemaphysalis obesa .
