An Australasian species, all of whose parasitic stages are usually found on Peramelemorphia : Peramelidae , but they have also been collected from Rodentia : Muridae . Adult ticks and larvae have been recovered from Dasyuromorphia : Dasyuridae ; adult ticks alone have been found on Monotremata : Tachyglossidae ; larvae and nymphs have been recovered from Cuculiformes : Cuculidae ; nymphs alone have been found on Perissodactyla : Equidae ( Chalada et al. 2018, Guglielmone & Robbins 2018). Haemaphysalis humerosa is a very rare parasite of humans.

Note: Evans et al. (2019) presented molecular evidence to argue that more than one species may exist under the name Haemaphysalis humerosa . Records of Haemaphysalis humerosa from Malaysia (Oriental Zoogeographic Region) detailed in Ernieenor et al. (2017) need confirmation.
