An Afrotropical species, all of whose parasitic stages are usually found on Artiodactyla : Bovidae . Adults alone have been collected on Squamata : Elapidae , while immature stages have been recovered from Bucerotiformes : Bucorvidae , Passeriformes : Strildidae and Viduidae , and Squamata : Atractaspididae ( Guglielmone & Robbins 2018, Horak et al. 2018). Haemaphysalis parmata is a very rare parasite of humans.
