Note: the female of Bothriocroton oudemansi described in Schulze (1936b, under the name Aponomma oudemansi ) is, in fact, Bothriocroton concolor , as explained in Beati et al. (2008), and this applies as well to the female description of Bothriocroton oudemansi in Santos Dias (1993) , which is based on Schulze (1936b). The confusion between the females of these species was noted by Kaufman (1972), who considered (under Aponomma ) Bothriocroton oudemansi a synonym of Bothriocroton concolor . Nevertheless, Santos Dias (1993) treated both species as valid, a fact later confirmed by Beati et al. (2008).
