An Oriental species whose adults are usually found on Artiodactyla : Bovidae ; larvae and nymphs have been recovered from Rodentia : Muridae , and Cuculiformes : Cuculidae . Adults alone have also been collected from Artiodactyla : Cervidae , and Carnivora : Canidae and Felidae . Haemaphysalis anomala is a rare parasite of humans.

Note: the description of the female of Haemaphysalis novaeguineae Krijgsman and Ponto, 1932 , a preoccupied name that is a synonym of Haemaphysalis bancrofti, in Toumanoff (1944) , corresponds, in fact, to Haemaphysalis anomala , as explained in Hoogstraal et al. (1967b). There are redescriptions of Haemaphysalis anomala under the name Haemaphysalis cornigera anomala , but we include only the description and redescription of Haemaphysalis cornigera anomala by Sharif (1928).
