TYPE LOCALITY: U.S. S. R., W. Siberia, mouth of Ob River .
DISTRIBUTION: Arctic Ocean; Okhotsk, and Bering Seas; Gulf of Alaska; Gulf of St. Lawrence; occasionally south to Honshu ( Japan), France, and Massachusetts ( U.S.A.).
PROTECTED STATUS: CITES - Appendix II as Order Cetacea .
