Feronia submarginata Say, 1823a: 45. Type locality: "Hope [Hempstead County], Ark[ansas]" (neotype label). Neotype (♂), designated by Lindroth and Freitag (1969: 340), in MCZ [# 33041].
Poecilus monedula Germar, 1824: 18. Type locality: "America boreali" (original citation). Syntype(s) probably lost. Synonymy established by LeConte (1853a: 246).
Distribution.
This species is found from southern Ohio (Purrington and Stanton 1996: 43; Silverman et al. 2008: 733) south to “Texas” (LeConte 1858a: 28), southern Mississippi (Hancock County, CNC), and central Florida (Peck and Thomas 1998: 19). Bates (1882a: 83) recorded it from “Mexico.”
