One bat was collected as a voucher specimen. Lampung Province: Way Canguk Forest, 1♂ ( MZB 35884).

Remarks

One individual was caught with a harp trap in Way Canguk Forest. An additional sample of another male from Way Canguk Forest was found in the MZB (MZB 34991, FA = 30.9 mm), which is the first record from Sumatra. In the study area, M. rozendaali can be easily distinguished from other Murininae species by its smaller body size, except M. suilla . These two small Murina species can be distinguished by fur color and dental characters. Fur on the upperparts in M. rozendaali is dark brown at the base with shiny golden tips, differing from buffy/gray and orange-brown of M. suilla . The ratio of the crown area of the first upper premolar to the crown area of the second upper premolar is twothirds or more in M. rozendaali , but is half or less in M. suilla (G. Csorba, personal communication). Murina aenea is another species with similar coloration in the Sunda Shelf and has not been yet reported from Sumatra. The body size of M. rozendaali (FA 28–32 mm, BM 3.8–4.8 g) is smaller than M. aenea (FA 34–38 mm, BM 6.0– 8.5 g) and the underparts are white-based rather than buffy brown in M. aenea ( Francis, 2008) . Our records extend its distribution on the Sunda Shelf from Peninsular Malaysia and Borneo to Sumatra ( Simmons, 2005).
