Remark. Despite some external dissimilarity, the specimens from Oman display no significant genital differences from the nominate P. crinomima therefore we downgrade the taxon to a subspecies of P. crinomima .
Diagnosis. The forewing length is 19–21mm in males and 22–23 mm in females. The subspecies ( Figs 17, 18 View FIGURES 17–20 ) differs externally from the nominate ( Figs 15, 16 View FIGURES 9–16 ) one by the somewhat larger reniform stigma, the more indistinct ante- and postmedial lines, and the darker greyish brown suffusion on the medial area. In the male genital capsule of P. crinomima jabaliya ( Fig. 28 View FIGURES 27–29 ), the dorsal costal protrusion is somewhat narrower, the sacculus has a more convex dorsal margin and a somewhat shorter clavus, and the right digitus is somewhat narrower than those structures in the nominate subspecies ( Fig. 27 View FIGURES 27–29 ). The vesica of P. crinomima jabaliya is slightly broader than in P. crinomima crinomima . The female genitalia of P. crinomima jabaliya ( Fig. 37 View FIGURES 36–38 ) differ from those of the nominate subspecies ( Fig. 36 View FIGURES 36–38 ) by the wider and longer postvaginal plate.
Distribution and bionomics. The subspecies is known only from northern Oman where it is local but not rare in its habitats at the highest elevations of the given area. Adults are on the wing late in the season.
