Genus Amberana Distant, 1908 View in CoL

Amberana Distant, 1908: 313 View in CoL .

Type species: Amberana elongata Distant, 1908 , by original designation and monotypy.

Description. On dorsal view, head larger than long between eyes, anterior margin can be carinated. Median part of vertex often elevated, a small median carina can occur and separates ocelli that are close together. Postclypeus convex, striated laterally, bearing a triangle dimple just below frons level, which is characteristic for this genus, and a sulciform mark on its middle that can be strongly marked or not. Rostrum reaching mesocoxa. Pronotum with anterior margin straight or slightly rounded anteriorly, three small concavities along it, on each side. Scutellum generally slightly longer than wide with 3 concavities, two small along anterior margin and one larger, placed centrally. Tegmina generally 3 times longer than wide, M + Cu at base on a certain length depending on the species, Sc + R longer than M + Cu. Metatibia with 1lateral spine and 1 or 2 row of spines apically.

Coloration. All Amberana species are colourful. Even on the darkest species, some yellow, orange or red spots are present. Tegmina generally opaque, translucent on some species.
