Haematopinus eurysternus Denny

Haematopinus eurysternus the short nosed cattle louse, is primarily a parasite of domestic cattle in cool temperate regions. This louse was not previously reported from South Carolina but it has been reported from Georgia and Tennessee ( Kim et al. 1986; Durden et al. 1997). The CUAC has records of this louse including, a hand­written letter dated 1954 by W.J. Goodwin that reports this louse from cattle throughout the state.
