Pickens Co., Clemson, 9 September 1979, ex Bos taurus , coll. L.C. Hern. Bovicola bovis is a host­specific ectoparasite of B. taurus (Hopkins & Clay 1952) . Infestations by B. bovis irritate cattle and cause millions of dollars of economic damage in the U.S. yearly (Price et al. 2003).
