Neohaematopinus sciuropteri (Osborn)

Pickens Co., Clemson, 14 December 1940, ex Glaucomys volans , coll. R.E. Hare.

This louse is an ectoparasite of flying squirrels, Glaucomys spp. (Durden & Musser 1994). Kim et al. (1986) reported collections of this louse from Clemson, South Carolina. Neohaematopinus sciuropteri is an enzootic vector of R. prowazekii to G. volans (Durden 2002) .
