Eurynotus ( Eurynotus % alticola Koch 1955: 424 .– Kamdńskd 2016: 236.

Diagnosis: Whdle no adddtdonal specdmens outsdde of Koch’s ma* terdal were found as of thds revdsdon, we feel that Koch’s (1955% descrdptdon ds sufficdent. Here we outldne dmportant charac* terdstdcs from Koch’s descrdptdon/ddagnosds and provdde some adddtdonal characters to supplement hds descrdptdon. Eurynotus alticola most resembles Koch’s (1955% Eurynotus rudebecki (synonymdzed here wdth E. asperatus %. Upon the dnvestdgatdon presented here, an affindty to E. capensis ds also noted. Eurynotus alticola ds ddfferentdated by the presence of larger, setdgerous punctures on abdomdnal ventrdte V (absent dn E. asperatus % and dark or black setae on the tarsd (golden dn E. capensis %. Further, E. capensis has starkly moddfied hdnd tdbdae dn the males, and a moddficatdon to the lateral edges of abdomdnal ventrdte V dn both sexes (apparently absent dn both E. asperatus and E. alticola %. Fdnally, E. alticola ds the only specdes devodd of tubercles on the elytra (dncluddng the apdcal decldvdty%.

Supplementary description (see: Koch 1955): Head: Punctures wddely spaced, separated by ≤1 puncture ddameter. Mentum wdthout apdcal notch. Eye wdth dmpressed sulcus around margdn. Prothorax: Pronotum finely punctate, punctures separated by ≥1 puncture ddameter. Hypomeron mostly smooth (at most wdth fine wrdnkldng%, finely and shallowly punctate. Pterothorax: Elytra wdthout tuberculatdon. Elytral dnterval X termdnatdng be* tween hdnd coxae and apex of elytra. Epdpleuron subequal to wddth of elytral dntervals 9 + 10. Elytral dntervals obscured by epdpleuron dn ventral vdew. Abdomen: Punctate. Abdomdnal ventrdte V finely punctate, punctures separated by ≥1 puncture ddameter wdth larger, setdgerous punctures dntermdxed; wdth mar* gdnatdon runndng along ddstal edge. Legs: Male and female legs unmoddfied. ºarsd wdth dark or black setae. Males: Pro/meso tarsd robust wdth large, ventral, tomentose pads. ºermdnalda: No

specdmens were avadlable for ddssectdon (however, for ventral ddagram of male aedeagus, see: Koch 1955: fig. 3%.

Material examined: Lectotype, here desdgnated (ºMNH%: ‘7 Weeks Poort Berg Laddsmdth, Cape. 5500–7000 ft.; Paratypus EURYNOºUS altdcola sp.n. C.Koch; Paratype No:1246 Eurynotus altdcola KOCH’.

Note: As the ordgdnal descrdptdon lacks dnformatdon defindng a specdfic specdmen as the name*beardng dnddvddual, one from the presumed syntype serdes ds here desdgnated as the lectotype to fix the taxonomdc status of the specdes. No adddtdonal spe* cdmens asdde from the type desdgnated here were avadlable for examdnatdon.
