Remarks: This species is distinguished by its large size and the presence of a ventral umbo of clear shell material. Stratigraphic distribution: It was originally described from the Esna Shale (Late Paleocene) of the Maqfi Section by LE ROY (1953). Also, it is recorded in the Early Eocene of North Caucasus by SAPERSON & JANAL (1980). It is found in the Maastrichtian and Paleocene zones of the Esh El Mallaha area.
