Holotype Male: VENEZUELA. Aragua: P. N. Henri Pittier, 1140 m, 20.ii.2008, F. Sosa, F. Díaz & R. Zuñiga Leg. Collected with light trap. Deposited in the MJMO.

Diagnosis. This species has pale green coloration, dark red marks on the dorsum of the thorax and abdomen, forewing with black gradate veins and dark shading on the surrounding membrane and pterostigma lightly marked, males with enlarged abdominal spiracles and females with quadrate subgenitale bearing dorsal lobes widely separated.

Description. Head. Vertexwith pair of short, dark red marks anteriorly, pair of smaller marks posterolaterally; gena black; lateral margin of clypeus black. Maxillary, labial palpi pale, marked with black laterally ( Fig. 19 View FIGURE 19 A–B). Antenna ( Fig. 19 View FIGURE 19 B): scape pale green, marked with red dorsolaterally; pedicellus ivory; flagellum cream, covered with black bristles.

Thorax. Light green, with broad, dark red stripe laterally; mesothorax, metathorax red marked; pleural, sternal areas, legs, pale green. Wings ( Fig. 19 View FIGURE 19 C): forewings with longitudinal veins pale green; stigmal area with light black shading; crossveins pale green, except radial crossveins, gradate series, last Psm–Psc crossvein black; inner, outer gradates arranged in parallel series, surrounded by dark shading; basal inner gradate vein meeting Psm; hindwing with longitudinal, transverse veins pale green.

Abdomen. Light green, all segments with lateral red marks. Male terminalia (teneral) ( Fig. 20 View FIGURE 20 ): A1–8 with enlarged, ovate spiracles; circumference of A8 spiracle 1.5 times greater than circumference of callus cerci ( Fig. 20 View FIGURE 20 B). T9+ect cone-shaped, with acute basilateral corner; callus cerci ovate with ca. 30 trichobotria. S8+9 elongate, ventral margin ca. three times longer than height of anterior margin; distal ca. one-third of dorsal margin tapering toward apex; apex with dense, long setae. Gonarcal arch U-shaped; lateral apodemes triangular; arcessus elongate, hooked apically ( Fig. 20 View FIGURE 20 F). Female terminalia ( Fig. 21 View FIGURE 21 ): T9+ect rectangular, with dense, long setae; callus cerci round, with ca. 24 trichobothria ( Fig. 21 View FIGURE 21 B). Spermatheca pillbox-shaped, ventral impression deep, spermathecal duct, ca 1.4 times longer than height of spermatheca and velum ( Fig. 21 View FIGURE 21 C–D). Subgenitale quadrate, with dorsal lobes small, widely separated mesally ( Fig. 21 View FIGURE 21 E–F).

Measurements (n=2). Head: width = 1.4–1.5 mm; eye width = 0.3–0.4 mm. Pronotum: length = 0.8 mm, width = 1.2 mm. Forewing: length = 12.9 mm, width = 4.6 mm, length/width ratio = 2.8: 1; intramedian cell length = 0.80 mm; maximum height of costal area = 0.9 mm; five inner,seven outer gradates; hindwing: length = 11.9 mm, width = 3.8 mm, length/width ratio = 3.1: 1, four inner, six outer gradates.

Idem, 1140 m, 20.ii.2008, 1♀, F. Sosa, F. Díaz & R. Zuñiga ( MJMO). Collected with light trap; Idem, 9.v.1973, 1100 m, 1♀, F. Fernádez Yépez & C. J. Rosales Leg. ( MIZA).

Known geographical distribution. Venezuela (Aragua).

Species relationship. See Ungla martinsi sp. nov.

Etymology. The specific name comes from the Latin feminine word: rubrica = red earth or ruddle; it refers to the red marks on the head, thorax and abdomen.
