Lectotype (designated here by Reduron): Herb. Clifford: 94, Crithmum 1 (BM-000558263) .

Generitype of Crithmum Linnaeus (vide Hitchcock, Prop. Brit. Bot.: 139. 1929).

Current name: Crithmum maritimum L. View in CoL ( Apiaceae ).

Note: Jafri (in Jafri & El-Gadi, Fl. Libya 117: 49. 1985) indicated 347.1 (LINN) as the type but this sheet lacks the relevant Species Plantarum number (i.e. “1”) and was a post-1753 collection and is not original material for the name. This choice is rejected here, in favour of a Clifford collection.
