Acanthoscelides infractus ( Johnson & Kingsolver, 1973) , comb n.

Sennius infractus Johnson & Kingsolver, 1973: 67 –68, 125 (description, key, figures, type, taxonomy, distribution, host); Johnson & Kingsolver, 1981: 419 (catalog); Johnson, 1984: 56 –59 (redescription, male genitalia description, figures); Borowiec, 1987: 181 (figure); Udayagiri & Wadhi, 1989: 104 (catalog).

Type material (1, MCZ): Holotype female studied by photo ( MCZ Online Database), with labels: “M-tee Dist. / Brit. Hond. / Jan-Feb. ’06” “ HOLOTYPE / Sennius infractus / Johnson & Kingsolver” “M.C.Z. / Holotype / 32916” “ Acanthoscelides infractus / ( Johnson & Kingsolver, 1973) / Det. J. H. Viana”.

Remarks. Sennius infractus Johnson & Kingsolver, 1973 was originally described based only on a female collected in Honduras. There is an error in the MCZ catalog number for this specimen, 31966, in Johnson & Kingsolver (1973) and the correct catalog number is MCZ 32916 ( MCZ Online Database). Later, Johnson (1984) described the male genitalia of specimens from the same data collection as the female holotype, and indicated it as not belonging to Sennius , but did not indicate its proximity with species of any other genus. In this study male specimens from USNM described by Johnson (1984) with the same data as the holotype were examined, and here this species is here transferred to Acanthoscelides , as Acanthoscelides infractus ( NEW COMBINATION), due to proximity with species of megacornis group (Johnson 1990b) and the lack of hinge sclerites in the internal sac of male genitalia.
