This name is based on an illustration that depicts a single detached leaf of what appears to be a species of Dioscorea sect. Lychnostemon , possibly Dioscorea tamoidea Griseb. The source material for the illustration is reportedly from Hispañola, but there are no specimens cited in connection with the figure.The level of detail in the drawing is insufficient to permit a definitive identification at species level.
