( Fig. 2, Map 1)

Type material. Holotype: ♂, Zhangjiajie, Hunan, 13 August, 2004, coll. Jian-Feng Wang and Ji-Liang Wang.

Male. Body small, stout. Head short, fastigium frontis slightly inclined. Fastigium verticis conical, apex obtusely rounded, furrowed in midline. Eyes globular, protruding forwards. Apical segment of maxillary palpi slightly longer than subapical one, apex faintly swollen.

Pronotum moderately projecting backwards, reaching posterior margin of fourth abdominal tergite; anterior margin straight, posterior margin obtusely rounded, anterior and median transverse sulci indistinct, posterior transverse sulcus distinct, metazona slightly raised, posterior margin of paranota faintly broadened; humeral sinus absent.

Tegmina short, reaching posterior margin of pronotum, apices slightly truncate; hind wings absent.

Procoxa with a spine, all femora without spines on ventral margin, protibiae with 4 spines on inner and outer sides of ventral margin separately, and a pair of ventral apical spurs; tibial tympana open on both sides. Mesotibiae with 3 spines on inner side and 4 spines on outer side of ventral margin, and a pair of ventral apical spurs. Apices of postfemora with knees obtuse, posttibiae with 22–25 spines on both sides of dorsal margin separately, and a pair of dorsal apical spurs and a pair of ventral apical spurs.

Tenth abdominal tergite short, posterior margin shallowly concavus. Epiproct broad and short, posterior margin rounded. Cerci with basal half stout, apical half thin, curved upwards, tip with a short tooth. Genitalia sclerotized, short, basal area broad, apical area narrow. Subgenital plate with basal area broad, centre shallow concave; apical area narrow, posterior margin with a triangular notch. Styli short, conical, apices subacute on apices of lateral margins.

Body light yellow. Disc of pronotum light yellow, paranota dark brown, dorsal margin with a longitudinal yellow stripe on basal half. Outer margins of postfemora with two lines of parallel brown stripes. Apices of spines and spurs of posttibiae brown; claws with apices brown. Lateral margin of abdomen dark brown.

Female. Unknown.

Measurements (mm). Body: ♂ 8.3; pronotum: ♂ 5.5; postfemora: ♂ 9.3.

Distribution. China (Hunan).

Discussion. The new species is similar to Pseudocosmetura anjiensis ( Shi & Zheng, 1998) , but it differs from the latter: male cerci with basal area stout, apical area obviously thin, cylindrical, curved upwards; posterior margin of subgenital plate with a triangular notch.

Etymology. The name of the new species is derived from Latin ‘ curv ’, showing that male cercus is obviously curved upwards.
