Material examined. 1 male ( ZRC.ORT.1159), BTNR, along Hindhede Drive, coll. H. K. Lua, 24 March 1989.

Taxonomy. This small genus, consisting of five species, requires a taxonomic revision which may reveal fewer species than currently recognised. Males of Sympaestria acutelobata are only differentiated from the similar Sympaestria genualis Karny, 1923 (only known from one male) by colour of hind knee (concolorous in S. acutelobata and black in S. genualis ) even though the abdominal apex are very similar. It is difficult to ascertain species identification especially when only one sex is known for three species.
