Sars (1863a, 1911; see Table 1 View Table 1 , supplementary material 1, for archive item Ms. Fol. 1109: 613) found this species to be very common in the neighbourhood of Oslo (Eastern Norway) and assumed it to be common also elsewere in the country. Archive item Ms. Fol 1109: 468, no. 64 ( Table 1 View Table 1 , supplementary material 1) gives a reference to records from Southern Norway. According to Sars, this species prefers shallow ponds and ditches and is less common in large lakes.
