Type material. Male holotype from Panama, Canal Zone, Barro Colorado Island (9.15, -79.85), I.1936, J.A. Griswold coll., deposited in MCZ 79100View Materials. Paratypes: 1 female from same locality of holotype, 30.XII.1935, J.A. Griswold coll., deposited in MCZAbout MCZ 79097View Materials  ; 1 male and 1 female from same locality of holotype, 18.I.1958, A.M. Chickering coll., deposited in MCZAbout MCZ 79089View Materials and 79090  .

Etymology. The species name is a toponym in apposition referring to the type locality.

Diagnosis. Males of Kiekie panamensis  ( Fig. 13View FIGURE 13 A–B) resemble those of K. sarapiqui  ( Fig. 8View FIGURE 8 A–B) by the shape of embolus and RTA, but can be distinguished by the shape of the median apophysis, with a narrow base and larger apically, with the cup-shape opening visible in ventral view. The females resemble those of K. sarapiqui  ( Fig. 8CView FIGURE 8) by the shape of the epigynum, but can be distinguished by the slightly narrow plate of the median field ( Fig. 13CView FIGURE 13). Internally, the position and shape of the copulatory ducts of K. panamensis  ( Fig. 13DView FIGURE 13) are similar to K. sarapiqui  ( Fig. 8DView FIGURE 8), but the first can be distinguished by the smaller spermathecae.
