Remarks. Originally described as C. atraphaxidis var. asiatica , it was later elevated by Gressitt & Kimoto (1961) to a valid species, C. asiatica . Recently some authors have treated it as one of the four valid subspecies of C. (Clytraria) atraphaxidis ( Medvedev, 1961; Regalin & Medvedev, 2010).
According to Medvedev (1961), C. (Clytraria) atraphaxidis varies greatly in the pronotal color pattern: the number of the spots usually one to seven, isolated completely or connected somehow, occasionally totally diappearing. The subspecies of this species are distinguished mainly by the pronotal color patterns.
C. (Clytraria) atraphaxidis asiatica differs from other subspecies by the following character states: body much narrower; pronotum with a single big, black marking, and punctured on each basal side; each elytron with a basal oblique band and a transverse band at apical one-third.
This subspecies occurs in the north of China and occasionally in the south of China.
