Diagnosis. Adult ( Fig. 35 View FIGURES 28 − 35 ). Wingspan 10.0−16.0 mm. Edosa crayella is characterized by the forewing having a small cluster of dark scales at the end of the cell, and the crescent-shaped valva with a large, strongly sclerotized, triangular basal flange in the male genitalia ( Fig. 66 View FIGURES 65 − 67 ); and the eyepatch-shaped eighth sternite in the female genitalia ( Fig. 88 View FIGURES 86 − 88 ). Edosa crayella is similar to E. pygmaeana ( Petersen, 1959) , but can be distinguished from the latter by the uncus lobe fused in the basal half and the valva not expanded apically. In E. pygmaeana , the uncus lobe is completely separated, and the valva is expanded apically.

Distribution. China (Fujian, Gansu, Guangdong, Guangxi, Hainan, Hong Kong, Hunan, Xizang, Yunnan, Zhejiang), West Malaysia.

Remarks. According to the original description of Robinson (2008a), the valva does not have a bridging lobe between the valva and the basal flange in the male genitalia, and the colliculum has longitudinal striae adjacent to the second ring anteriorly in the female genitalia. In this study, we observed that the valva has a small, triangular bridging lobe in some specimens, and the colliculum does not have longitudinal striae adjacent to the second ring in some specimens. We treated these as intraspecific variations since other characters are stable.

This species is newly recorded for China.
