Taxon discussion
Host plant records available for Adaina indicate that a single species may be able to feed on several Asteraceae belonging to one or more genera ( Landry and Gielis 1992, Matthews and Lott 2005). Baccharis alnifolia Meyen & Walp. (Asteraceae) was the only host plant previously known for A. jobimi ( Vargas 2020). Accordingly, rearing from S. philippiana adds a new host plant record and suggests that this plume moth is able to use distantly-related members of Asteraceae. As this plant family is well represented in the study area ( Moreira-Muñoz et al. 2016), further surveys would be needed to know the complete host plant range of A. jobimi.
