Basionym: Melissa pulegioides L. (1753)  .

Lectotype (Irving in Sida 8: 288. 1980): Clayton 514 (BM-000576253).

Current name: Hedeoma pulegioides (L.) Pers.  ( Lamiaceae  ).

Note: Epling (in J. Bot. 67: 9. 1929) noted Herb. Linn. No. 38.3 ( LINN), a Kalm specimen, as standard but this is not equivalent to a type statement (see Jarvis & al. in Taxon 50: 508. 2001).
