Type Locality: Indonesia, W Java, Bantam, Gunung Karang (restricted by Bergmans and Rozendaal, 1988).

Vernacular Names: Black-capped Fruit Bat.

Subspecies: :

Subspecies Chironax melanocephalus subsp. tumulus Bergmans and Rozendaal 1988

Distribution: Thailand, W Malaysia, Borneo, Sumatra, Java, Nias Isl, and Sulawesi.

Conservation: IUCN / SSC Action Plan (1992) – Not Threatened. IUCN 2003 – Lower Risk (lc).

Discussion: Reviewed by Hill (1983) and Bergmans and Rozendaal (1988).
