Type material. Holotype, 3, CHINA: Medog (29°13'N, 95°15'E), Tibet, 2380 m, 19.vi.2003, leg. Xinpu Wang & Huaijun Xue, genitalia slide No. LSR11246. Paratypes: 4 3, same data as holotype except dated 9.vi.2003.

Description. Adult ( Fig. 1c View FIGURE 1. a – c ): Wing expanse 14.0–15.0 mm. Head shiny black. Labial palpus yellowish white, scattered with brown scales on outer surface; second segment normally thickened; third segment slender, as long as second, pointed terminally. Antenna with brown scape, flagellum shiny black. Thorax and tegula shiny black. Forewing with apex narrowly rounded, termen straight and oblique; basal 2/5 black tinged with orange-yellow scales, distal 2/5 black with longitudinal orange-yellow streaks along veins, medially forming a broad orangeyellow fascia, which is widened anteriorly; cilia yellow on termen, black on apex and tornus. Hindwing with basal 3/4 yellow to orange yellow, distal 1/4 black; cilia whitish yellow except dark gray distally. Fore legs black, except tibia and tarsi ochreous yellow on dorsal surface; mid legs with femur black, tibia and tarsi ochreous yellow, covered with two clusters of blackish-brown bands on ventral surface; hind legs with femur blackish brown, tibia and tarsi ochreous yellow except tarsi with two clusters of blackish-brown bands on ventral surface.

Male genitalia ( Fig. 2c View FIGURE 2. a – c ): Uncus lobe semicircular, sclerotized marginally. Gnathos broad at base, gradually narrowing to 4/5, sharply narrowing from distal 1/5 to hooked apex. Valva broad basally, narrowing from 3/5 onwards; cucullus somewhat elongate falciform, pointed apically, armed with numerous spines; costal bar narrow, slightly arched in middle, about 1/3 length of valva. Sacculus relatively long, longer than half length of valva; dorsal margin concave inward medially, forming a shallow groove; ventral margin gently arched. Juxta protruded antero-medially, widened medially, arched outward laterally; postero-lateral lobes spine-like, about 1/2 length of juxta. Aedeagus relatively stout, parallel-sided to near apex, a little shorter than valva; cornuti consisting of more than twenty thorns of unequal size, and an elongate distal plate with subulate thorns on its surface.

Eighth sternite ( Fig. 3c View FIGURE 3. a – d ): Caudal processes very short, spine-like.

Female unknown.

Diagnosis. This species can be distinguished from its congeners by the forewing covered with dense black scales basally and distally; the somewhat elongate falciform cucullus, and the sacculus concave dorso-medially in the male genitalia.

Distribution. China (Tibet).

Etymology. The specific name is derived from the Latin word niger (black) and flavus (yellow), referring to the two dominant colors of wings.
