Dohrniphora lamella Borgmeier & Prado View in CoL
( Figs 55–56)
Dohrniphora lamella Borgmeier & Prado, 1975: 30–32 View in CoL , fig. 51.
Holotype. ♂, BRAZIL: Pernambuco: Caruaru , v.1972, J. Lima, Malaise trap ( MZSP; not examined). The specimen has not yet been returned to the MZSP, so was unavailable for study.
Species recognition. We have examined two specimens that appear to be of this species, based on the drawing of the hind femur in the original description. Borgmeier & Prado (1975) did not, however, mention the enlarged foretarsomeres, so this identification is tentative.
This species is distinctive for its small basal group of peglike setae and the shape of the more distal concavity.
Description. Body length: 1.75–1.88 mm. Head: Frons dark brown, second row of setae slightly concave. Flagellomere 1 round, brown. Palpus of normal size, orange. Thorax: Scutum light brown. Scutellum brown, with 2 pairs of setae; anterior seta one-half length of posterior seta. Pleuron light brown. Mean costal length 0.51 wing length, range 0.51–0.52. Halter yellow. Legs yellowish-brown. Forecoxa in lateral view yellowishbrown. Foretibia with 4 dorsal setae. Foretarsomeres 1–3 enlarged, slightly inflated. Midcoxa brown. Hind coxa yellow. Hind coxal lobe light brown, short, decumbent. Posterior face of hind femur with small basal group of six peglike setae; more distally with ventral concavity with posterior carinate margin ( Figs 55–56). Abdomen: Abdominal tergite 1 brown, tergites 2–6 yellow medially, anteriorly and posteriorly, dark brown laterally, with medial yellow area decreasing in every tergite posteriorly, dark brown predominating. Venter of abdomen yellow, with few setae, larger on posterior margin of segment 5. Male terminalia with epandrium yellowish-brown, hypandrium brown, and cercus yellow.
Distribution. Argentina, Brazil.
Material examined. ARGENTINA: Misiones: Reserva Vida Silvestre Urugua-í, 25.97°S, 54.11°W, 1♂, 10–12.xii.2003, B. Brown, G. Kung, Malaise trap # 1, 400 m GoogleMaps , 1♂, 15–17.xii.2003, B. Brown, G. Kung, L. Gonzalez, Malaise trap # 9, 400 m ( LACM) .
