Species recognition. This species is extremely similar to D. nigricarina , but has the peglike setae in an oval group and an extra toothlike process near the peglike setae.

Description. Body length: 1.31–1.59 mm. Head: Frons dark brown, second row of setae slightly concave. Flagellomere 1 oval, light brown. Palpus of normal size, light brown. Thorax: Scutum brown. Scutellum dark brown, with 2 pairs of setae; anterior seta one-half length of posterior seta. Pleuron brown. Mean costal length 0.47 wing length, range 0.46–0.48. Halter light brown. Legs light brown. Forecoxa in lateral view light brown. Foretibia with 4–5 dorsal setae. Foretarsomeres slender, elongate. Midcoxa dark brown. Hind coxa brown. Hind coxal lobe brown, only slightly developed. Posterior face of hind femur with basal, oval group of peglike setae; more distally with spinuli-filled concavity surrounded by carina that appears black or dark brown in light microscopy; with small toothlike process at level of peglike setae ( Figs 117–118). Abdomen: Abdominal tergite 1 dark brown, tergites 2–6 dark brown. Venter of abdomen gray, with few setae, larger on posterior margin of segment 5. Male terminalia brown, cercus yellow.

Distribution. Amazonian Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru.

Derivation of specific epithet. From Latin for black line, referring to the carina on the hind femur.
