Species recognition. This species is similar to D. ignobilis , but differs by the lack of a ventral lobe on the hind femur and the darker body color.

Description. Body length: 1.91–2.5 mm. Head: Frons dark brown, second row of setae slightly concave. Flagellomere 1 oval, slightly enlarged, light brown to orange ventrally. Palpus of normal size, light brown to yellow. Thorax: Scutum dark brown. Scutellum dark brown, with 2 pairs of setae; anterior seta two-thirds length of posterior seta. Pleuron yellowish-brown, except dorsum of anepisternum and all of proepisternum dark brown. Mean costal length 0.5 wing length, range 0.49–0.51. Halter whitish-yellow. Legs yellowishbrown. Forecoxa in lateral view yellow. Foretibia with 3 dorsal setae. Foretarsomeres slender, elongate. Midcoxa light brown. Hind coxa yellow. Hind coxal lobe light brown, short, with short, dorsally-curved ventral process. Posterior face of hind femur with basal group of peglike setae, often with some missing from center; ventral concavity oval, filled with spinuli; basal white membranous area narrow ( Figs 143–144, 286). Abdomen: Abdominal tergite 1 brown, tergites 2–6 dark brown. Venter of abdomen gray, with few setae, larger on posterior margin of segment 5. Male terminalia dark brown, except cercus yellow.

Distribution. Mexico to Colombia.

Derivation of specific epithet. Named for the type locality.
