Dohrniphora lovejoyi sp. n.

Species recognition. This species is most similar in hind femur structure to D. luteidorsata , from which it can be separated by the unilobed structure of the toothlike process and the largely brown color of the abdominal tergites.

Description. Body length: 1.94–2.09 mm. Head: Frons brown, ocellar triangle darker, second row of setae slightly concave. Flagellomere 1 rounded-oval, slightly pointed, light brown. Palpus of normal size, yellow. Thorax: Scutum brown. Scutellum dark brown, with setae broken. Pleuron with proepisternum and dorsum of anepisternum brown, rest of pleuron yellowish-brown. Mean costal length 0.48 wing length, range 0.46–0.51. Halter whitish-yellow. Legs yellowish-brown. Forecoxa in lateral view yellowish-brown. Foretibia with 4 dorsal setae. Foretarsomeres slender, elongate. Midcoxa brown. Hind coxa yellowish-brown. Hind coxal lobe brown, short, with ventral projection. Posterior face of hind femur with large oval basal group of peglike setae; more distally with small, dorsally-open concavity with distal margin defined by toothlike process ( Figs 203–204). Abdomen: Abdominal tergite 1 brown, tergites 2–6 dark brown, with yellow anterior and posterior margins. Venter of abdomen yellow, with few setae, larger on posterior margin of segment 5. Male terminalia dark brown, except cercus yellow.

Distribution. Known only from a single site in Amazonian Brazil.

Derivation of specific epithet. Named for Dr. Thomas Lovejoy for his important work on the Biological Dynamics of Forest Fragments project and his promotion of environmental conservation.

Holotype. ♂, BRAZIL: Amazonas : Manaus, 3.13°S, 60.02°W, PDBFF Reserve 1208, 15.x.1985, B. Klein, Malaise trap, R.L.E. [ LACM ENT 233988 ] ( INPA).

Paratypes. 5♂, same data as holotype except 1♂, 8.x.1985, 1♂, Res. 1301, 9.x.1985, R.C.N.1, 1♂, Res. 1210, 17.x.1985, R.L.O., 2♂, 28.xi.1985, R.L.E. (INPA, LACM).
