Species recognition. This species is most similar in hind femur structure to D. lovejoyi , from which it can be separated by the bilobed structure of the toothlike process and the yellow color of the abdominal tergites.

Description. Body length: 2.25 mm. Head: Frons brown, ocellar triangle darker, second row of setae slightly concave. Flagellomere 1 rounded-oval, brown. Palpus of normal size, yellow. Thorax: Scutum light brown. Scutellum brown, with setae broken. Pleuron with proepisternum and dorsum of anepisternum brown, rest of pleuron yellowish-brown. Costa 0.52 wing length. Halter yellow. Legs yellowish-brown. Forecoxa in lateral view yellowish-brown. Foretibia with 4 dorsal setae. Foretarsomeres slender, elongate. Midcoxa brown. Hind coxa yellowish-brown. Hind coxal lobe light brown, short, with short, dorsally-curved ventral process. Posterior face of hind femur with large oval basal group of peglike setae; more distally with small, dorsally-open concavity with distal margin defined by bilobed toothlike process ( Figs 207–208). Abdomen: Abdominal tergite 1 yellow, tergites 2–6 yellow medially and brown laterally, with medial yellow area decreasing in every tergite posteriorly. Venter of abdomen yellow, with few setae, larger on posterior margin of segment 5. Male terminalia dark brown, except cercus yellow.

Distribution. Amazonian Brazil.

Derivation of specific epithet. From Latin for “yellow-backed”, referring to the color of the abdominal tergites.
