Species recognition. See Species Recognition for D. preacuta .

Description. Body length: 2.38–2.44 mm. Head: Frons dark brown, second row of setae slightly concave. Flagellomere 1 rounded-oval, slightly pointed, brown. Palpus of normal size, brown. Thorax: Scutum brown. Scutellum dark brown, with 2 pairs of setae; anterior seta three-quarters length of posterior seta. Pleuron with proepisternum and dorsum of anepisternum brown, rest of pleuron yellowish-brown. Mean costal length 0.47 wing length, range 0.44–0.48. Halter yellow. Legs yellowish-brown, except apex of hind femur dark brown. Forecoxa in lateral view yellow. Foretibia with 4 dorsal setae. Foretarsomeres slender, elongate. Midcoxa dark brown. Hind coxa yellowish-brown. Hind coxal lobe light brown, short, truncate. Posterior face of hind femur with basal group of three straight rows of peglike setae on short process; more distally with two short pointed toothlike processes and elongate distally-tapering concavity ( Figs 241–242). Abdomen: Abdominal tergite 1 yellow, with faint brown transverse marking, tergites 2–6 dark brown, with yellow anterior and posterior margins (except tergite 6 lacking yellow posterior margin). Venter of abdomen whitish-gray, with few setae, larger on posterior margin of segment 5. Male terminalia dark brown, except cercus yellow.

Distribution. Venezuela.

Derivation of specific epithet. Named for its resemblance to D. acuta .

Holotype. ♂, VENEZUELA: Yacambo , 10.v.1981, H. K. Townes, Malaise trap, 1200 m [ LACM ENT 268276 About LACM ] ( LACM).

Paratypes. 1♂, same data as holotype ( DEBU). VENEZUELA: Aragua: Pico Guacamayo , Pittier NP, app. 10.44°N, 67.56°W GoogleMaps , 2♂, 15–30.xi.1997, T. Pape, Malaise trap, 1830 m ( LACM) .
