Species recognition. The hind femur of this species is extremely similar to that of the Central American species D. minerva , but in D. minervoidea the group of peglike setae is much smaller, the hind coxal lobe is a darker brown, and flagellomere 1 greatly is enlarged.

Description. Body length: 1.63–1.95 mm. Head: Frons dark brown, second row of setae slightly concave. Flagellomere 1 oval, enlarged, brown. Palpus of normal size, orange. Thorax: Scutum dark brown. Scutellum dark brown, with setae broken. Pleuron with proepisternum and dorsum of anepisternum dark brown, rest of pleuron light brown. Mean costal length 0.49 wing length. Halter whitish-yellow. Legs yellowish-brown. Forecoxa in lateral view yellow. Foretibia with 4 dorsal setae. Foretarsomeres slender, elongate. Midcoxa dark brown. Hind coxa yellowish-brown. Hind coxal lobe dark brown, short, round. Posterior face of hind femur with short basal group of peglike setae; more distally with shallow concavity bounded by short basal carina and longer, curved distal carina ( Figs 263–264). Abdomen: Abdominal tergite 1 dark brown, tergites 2–6 dark brown. Venter of abdomen gray, with few setae, larger on posterior margin of segment 5. Male terminalia dark brown, except cercus yellow.

Distribution. Colombia.

Derivation of specific epithet. Named for its similarity to D. minerva .
