Original material: Browne, Herb. Linn. No. 511.2 ( LINN) .

Current name: Coccoloba tenuifolia L. ( Polygonaceae ).

Note: Fawcett & Rendle (in J. Bot. 51: 123. 1913; Fl. Jamaica 3: 121. 1914) provided an extensive discussion but did not indicate a type. Howard (in J. Arnold Arbor. 38: 94. 1957) observed that Linnaeus had based C. excoriata on a Patrick Browne specimen in LINN but did not explicitly treat it as the type.
