For species identification see Ris (1912) and Santos (1949b). A small group, mature males of most species with brilliant red on dorsum of abdomen ( Fig. 109 View FIGURE 109 ). Frequent ponds with emergent and floating vegetation. Very little is known about these wary dragonflies. Ecuador is a new country record for the genus.
