Cyathea halonata Moran & Øllgaard (1998: 431) View in CoL . Type:— ECUADOR. Pichincha: Estación Biológica Río Gualajito, in Quebrada Las Palmeras, Km 59 along road Chillogallo-Alluriquin, 00°14’S, 78°47′W, 1800–2000 m, 30 November–1 December 1991, B. Øllgaard 99946 (holotype QCA!, isotypes AAU!, QCNE-171!).

Distribution and habitat: —Western Colombia to northern Ecuador, in moist montane forests of the western Andean slope at 1550–2000 m.

Remarks: —For a long time, this name had been erroneously applied to a widespread indusiate species ( Lehnert 2008) because of mislabled specimens at P (P-00355203!/-00355204).
