Chlorodiella laevissima (Dana, 1852)

Zoea I. Size (mean ± sd): CW = 0.7 ± 0.01 mm; CL = 0.67 ± 0.01 mm; TT =1.35 ± 0.03 mm.

Cephalothorax (7a): Smooth; dorsal spine curved distally, spinulate, longer than rostral spine; rostral spine straight, spinulate, equal to antennal protopod; one pair of posterodorsal setae; ventral margin without setae; eyes sessile.

Antennule ( Fig. 7b ). Uniramous; endopod absent; exopod unsegmented with 5 (4 unequal terminal aesthetascs, one slender seta).

Antenna ( Fig. 7c ). Protopodal process multispinulate, size of teeth increases towards tip, equal to rostral spine; endopod bud present. Exopod about 8.5% length of protopod process with 2 (1 subterminal, 1terminal) setae.

Maxillule ( Fig. 8a ). Coxal endite with 7 setae (2 subterminal, 5 terminal plumodenticulate); basial endite with 5 (4 cuspidate, 1 plumose) setae, one small tooth; endopod 2-segmented, proximal segment with one subdistal seta; distal segment with 2+4 setae.

Maxilla ( Fig. 8b ). Coxal endite bilobed with 4+4 setae; basial endite bilobed with 5+4 setae; endopod bilobed with 3+5 setae; exopod (scaphognathite) margin with 4 setae, 1 distal stout process.

First maxilliped ( Fig. 8c ). Basiopodite with 10 setae arranged 2+2+3+3; endopod 5-segmented with 3,2,1,2,1+4 setae respectively; exopod 2-segmented, distal segment with 4 terminal plumose natatory setae.

Second maxilliped ( Fig. 8d ). Basiopodite with 4 setae arranged 1+1+1+1; endopod 3-segmented, with 1,1,2+3 setae respectively; exopod segmented, distal segment with 4 terminal plumose natatory setae.

Pleon ( Fig. 9a ). Five somites; somite 2 with one pair of dorsolateral processes directed anteriorly, somite 3 with one pair of dorsolateral processes directed posteriorly; somites 1 and 2 with rounded posterolateral process, somites 3–5 with short posterolateral spinous processes; somite 1 without setae; somites 2–5 each with one pair of posterodorsal setae.

Telson ( Fig. 9b ). Each fork gradually curved distally with 2 lateral and 1 medial spines; inner margin with 3 pairs of stout spinulate setae.
