Umbilicaria deusta (L.) Baumg.
status

Lichen deustus Linnaeus, Species Plantarum 2: 1150. 1753, nom. cons.

"Habitat in Sueciae, Galliae rupibus s. cautibus apricis. rupestris." RCN: 8227.

Conserved type ( Jørgensen & al. in Taxon 43: 651. 1994): Sweden. Närke, Örebro, Hellbom in Rabenhorst, Exsicc. No. 812 (UPS).

Current name: Umbilicaria deusta (L.) Baumg. View in CoL (Umbiliculariaceae).

Note: See discussion by Jørgensen & al. (in Bot. J. Linn. Soc. 115: 303-304. 1994). Howe (in Bull. Torrey Bot. Club 39: 201. 1912) chose 1273.206 (LINN) as lectotype (see Jørgensen & ah: f. 25), but unfortunately this belongs to Umbilicaria proboscidea Ach. non L. Wei (in Suppl. Mycosyst. 5: 13. 1993) has introduced an illegitimate nomen novum for it, and taken up U. flocculosa Hoffm. for U. deusta auct. Jørgensen & al. successfully proposed the name for conservation with a conserved type.
