Anthobium himalayense View in CoL sp. n.

( Figs. 4 View FIGURES 1–5 , 87–88 View FIGURES 87–92 , 93 View FIGURE 93 )

Type material examined: Holotype ♂: ‘C-Nepal, Manaslu massif | Barapokhari Lekh | 23km NE Besisahar vill. | 28°21’N, 84°33’E, | 14.IX.2000, leg. A.Hetzel’ <printed>, ‘ 3800 – 4100 m, | sieved from moss and Rhododendron leaf litter’ <printed>, ‘HOLOTYPE | Anthobium | himalayense sp. n. | Shavrin A.V. des. 2022’ <red, printed> (cF, to be eventually deposited in Museum für Naturkunde, Berlin, Germany) GoogleMaps .

Paratypes (3 specimens): 1 ♂ [dissected], 1 ♀: same data as the holotype (1 ♀: cF; 1 ♂: cSh). All paratypes with additional red printed label: ‘ PARATYPE | Anthobium | himalayense sp. n. | Shavrin A.V. des. 2022’.

Description. Measurements (n=3): HL: 0.37–0.40; HW: 0.57–0.67; AL (holotype): 1.05; OL: 0.15–0.18; PL: 0.42–0.47; PW: 0.80–0.95; ESL: 1.12–1.37; EW: 1.08–1.17; AW: 0.90–1.14; MTbL (holotype): 0.50; MTrL (holotype): 0.26 (MTrL 1–4: 0.16; MTrL 5: 0.10); AedL: 0.50; TL: 2.65–3.25 (holotype).

Habitus as in Fig. 4 View FIGURES 1–5 . Head, maxillary palpomeres, antennomeres 4–11, pronotum and abdomen dark-brown; lateral portions of pronotum and elytra yellow-brown; mouthparts, antennomeres 1–3 and legs yellow. Head with distinct transverse microsculpture on clypeus, with or without very indistinct transverse meshes in middle, and with diagonal and isodiametric microreticulation on infraorbital ridges; neck with distinct transverse microsculpture; pronotum without microreticulation except one paratype with transverse meshes in medioapical third; scutellum without meshes; abdomen with distinct transverse microsculpture. Head with variable punctation: finer and sparser on vertex, denser in middle, and coarser and moderately denser on infraorbital ridges, without punctation in wide diagonal portions of inner sides of anteocellar foveae; neck with sparse and fine punctation; pronotum with dense, moderately large and deep punctation, sparser in middle and/or mediobasal portions; scutellum with very fine and sparse punctation; punctation of elytra about as that on pronotum, denser and coarser in basal, finer in middle, on each elytron forming very tangled and vague six longitudinal rows of punctures; abdominal tergites with very fine and sparse punctation.

Head 1.5–1.6 times as broad as long, with very deep and wide anteocellar foveae, reaching apical margin of eye; postocular ridges acute. Distance between ocelli about 1.5 times as long distance between ocellus and posterior margin of eye. Apical segment of maxillary palpomere about two and a half times as long as preceding segment. Antennomere 2 slightly narrower than basal antennomere, 3 distinctly longer and slightly narrower than 2, 4 small, 1.8 times as long as and about as broad as 2, 5 slightly longer than 4, 6–7 slightly longer and broader than 5, 8 slightly shorter than 7, 9 transverse, shorter than 8, 10 transverse, slightly broader than 9, apical antennomere long, distinctly longer than previous two antennomeres, from apical third gradually narrowed toward subacute apex.

Pronotum about twice as long as broad, 1.4 times as broad as head, widest in middle, slightly more narrowed posteriad than anteriad, anterior angles not protruded anteriad; middle portion strongly elevated, with or without indinstinct longitudinal impression in one paratype.

Elytra slightly longer than broad, significantly more than twice as long as pronotum, reaching apical margin of abdominal tergite IV or V.

Male. Apical margin of abdominal tergite VIII slightly and abdominal sternite VIII deeply sinuate. Aedeagus with moderately narrow basal bulb, gradually narrowed toward rounded apex; parameres distinctly exceeding apex of median lobe, slightly widened apically, with moderately short apical seta; internal sac long, folded in basal portion ( Fig. 87 View FIGURES 87–92 ). Lateral aspect of aedeagus as in Fig. 88 View FIGURES 87–92 .

Female. Apcal margin of abdominal tergite VIII truncate. Apical margin of abdominal sternite VIII rounded.

Comparative notes. Anthobium himalayense sp. n. differs from the remaining species of the tectum group by the narrow apical portion of the aedeagus.

Distribution. The species is known only from the type locality in Manaslu Mt., Central Nepal ( Fig. 93 View FIGURE 93 ).

Natural history. The specimens were collecteed at elevations of 3800 to 4100 m a.s.l. by siftting mosses and Rhododendron leaf litter.

Etymology. The specific epithet is an adjective composed of Himalaya and the suffix – ense, denoting the place of the origin.
