First faunistic record for Croatia: Us 1938
Also reported as: M. varium (Fabricius, 1775) ( Us 1938)
Distribution in Croatia: Widespread but not numerous in records. Present in all regions except Dubrovnik area (not recorded), but more common in the Pannonian region. Probably overlooked in the past.
Distribution in Europe: From Ireland, Southern Scandinavia and Estonia in the north to Central Portugal, Southern Italy and Northern Greece in the south, and Eastern Ukraine and Central European Russia in the east ( Hochkirch et al. 2016).
