Taxonomic note: Species of this genus ( G. rufus (Linnaeus, 1758) and recently described G. longipennis Li & Ren, 2016 ) belong to Chorthippus biguttulus group according to morphological and bioacoustic characters (unpublished data). We do not perform any taxonomic act because Gomphocerippus is a widely accepted name in orthopterists' community, experts being aware of this problem. The Chorthippus genus group is in need of comprehensive revision.
