Arrenurus (Megaluracarus) chutteri chutteri K.O. Viets, 1966 – nov. stat.

Material examined. SOUTH AFRICA. 1/1/0, RNNP Dam, Royal NP, KwaZulu-Natal Province, 28° 41.231 S 28° 57. 379 E, alt. 1439 m asl, 20-xi-2004 GoogleMaps .

Remarks. Arrenurus concavus chutteri is much smaller than A. concavus Koenike, 1893 . Moreover, the chaetotaxy of the posterior part of the cauda is different. The lengths of the males of the two species are 760–852 for A. chutteri and 920–975 for A. concavus , respectively (K.O. Viets 1966). I propose, therefore, to elevate its taxonomical status to that of species rank. The male and female specimen assigned here to the nominate taxon agree well with the description of K.O. Viets (1996). Only the genital plate of the male is less narrow. Previously reported from South Africa (K.O. Viets 1966, 1973a) and Rwanda ( Bader 1976).
