Type:—‘ PERU. Dep. Lima, Prov. Yauyos: Huacracocha, a 17 km de Tupe, 4400 m s.m., leg. E. Cerrate et O. Tovar 1222, 22-I-1952 ’ (holotype: LP 000707 !; isotype: USM 000198 !). Iconography: Cabrera (1954: 578) .

Distribution and Habitat ( Fig. 5 ): — Senecio violifolius occurs in Bolivia and Peru, at elevations of 4400–5100 m.
