Genus Tanymastigites Brtek, 1972
Tanymastix Daday, 1910 (partim); Gauthier, 1928b Tanymastigites Brtek, 1972
Clypeus arch-shaped, about 1/2–2/3 of the basal parts of the male antennae, equipped with a pair of large, strongly sclerotized, subtrapezoidal ventral processes each with a knob-like dorsal protuberance. When present, frontal clypeal processes flattened and broad, in dorsal view partly hidden by antennal appendages. Basal part of penis with large triangular proximal process, distally pointing to medial side, set with spinules on medial margin. Small medial spur inserted about halfway along the basal part of penis. Evaginable distal part of penis elongated, apically slightly inflated, with one medial row of strong conical spines, and other isolated spines. Several distal spines possible. Sexual dimorphism in the shape of the foremost endopodites of thoracopods. Adult males with some of the foremost endopodites, mainly those of the 3rd and the 4th pair of thoracic limbs, presenting a more or less pronounced narrow distomedial subtriangular projection; adult females with the foremost endopodites homonomous with those of the rest of the thoracopods. Brood pouch elongated and fusiform, without ventral thorns. Cysts spherical.
