D. rubeus Huang & Zhang View in CoL sp. n.

( Figs. 4–6 View FIGURES 1–6 , 14–20 View FIGURES 14–20 )

Description. Size medium and robust. Body length (incl. forewing) 7.7–9.1mm, head width (incl. eyes) 3.0mm, pronotum width 2.9mm, scutellum width 2.3mm. Coloration green in fresh specimens, pale yellow in faded specimens. Eyes hyaline, kidney-shaped. Ocelli prominent, orange ( Figs. 4 View FIGURES 1–6 ).

Crown transverse camber weakly curved in anterior view, with anteromedial and longitudinal red marking. Pronotum with transverse red marking. Frontoclypeus without median longitudinal carina. Scutellum base dusky ( Figs. 4, 5 View FIGURES 1–6 ). Forewing punctate, venation regular in basal two-thirds, reticulate apically; clavus dusky; appendix vanishing ( Fig. 5 View FIGURES 1–6 ). Pro- and mesothoracic leg chaetotaxy reduced, with rather fine setae. Hind tibiae with 7 stout and enlarged setae rows perpendicular to axis of leg anterodorsally (AD). Metathoracic tarsomere I columnar, more robust compared with other tarsomeres, in ventral view shorter in length with remaining tarsomeres combined.

Male with 8th sternite with posterior margin concave ( Fig. 20 View FIGURES 14–20 ). Pygofer side in lateral aspect tapering posteriorly with ventroposterior long process, hook-like, arising preapically; the base of ventroposterior process depressed ( Fig. 17 View FIGURES 14–20 ). Style rather slim, curved ventrally at apex, with a small subapical tooth laterally ( Figs. 14, 15 View FIGURES 14–20 ). Aedeagus curved dorsally, slightly sinuate in lateral view, shaft slightly lamellate with a pair of lamellate subapical processes ventrally ( Figs. 14, 15 View FIGURES 14–20 ). Connective slightly longer than wide ( Figs. 14–16 View FIGURES 14–20 ).

Female. Unknown.

Distribution. China (Fujian; Guangxi; Hainan; Hongkong).

Etymology. The new species epithet is from the Latin word rubidus referring to the red markings on head and pronotum.

Diagnosis. This species is easily distinguished from other species of Destinoides by its red markings on the head and pronotum. This species resembles D. hainanensis p.n. but differs in having the aedeagal shaft more robust medially and slightly sinuate in lateral view. The COI barcode sequence is as follows: TTATATTTTATTTTTGGAATTTGATCAGGAATTATTGGTATAATAATAAGATTAATTATTCGAG- TAGAGTTAGGATTTCCTGGAAGTTACATTGGAAATGATCAGATTTATAATGTTATTGTAACTTCTCAT- GCTTTTATTATGATTTTTTTTATAGTAATGCCAATTATAATTGGAGGTTTTGGTAATTGGCTTTTGCC TTTAATAATTGGTTCCCCCGATATAGCTTTCCCTCGAATAAATAATATAAGTTTTTGACTTCTTCCTCCTTCTT- TATTATTATTGTTGTCTAGATCTATAGTTGAAATAGGAGTTGGAACTGGATGAACAGTTTATC- C A C C T T T G T C T T C T T G T T TAT T T C AT T C T G G T T C TA G A G T T G AT T TA G C TAT T T T T T C T T TA C ATTTAGCTGGTATTTCTTCAATTTTAGGGGCTGTGAATTTTATTACAACTTCTTTTAATATACGAGGTTTTG- GAATAACTCTAGATCGTGTTCCTCTTTTTGTTTGGTCAGTTTTAATTACTGCTTTCCTTTTACTTCTTTCCTTAC- CAGTTCTTGCTGGAGCAATTACTATACTTCTTTTTGATCGAAATTTTAATACTAGTTTTTTTGACCCTTCC- GGGGGTGGGGATCCTATCTTATATCAACATTTGTTT
