Note. Although we were not able to locate the holotype of this species in the PAN collection, Cristina Scioscia View in CoL has kindly sent us the unpublished illustrations and descriptions of this type made by Galiano. Based on the illustration of the epigyne, we were able to identify this species.

Diagnosis. Males of S. melanops (see Fig. 100 View FIGURES 98 – 107 ) are similar to those of S. pterodactyla ( Fig. 102 View FIGURES 98 – 107 ) by the embolus folded in angle of about 90º with the palp axis, but can be distinguished by the paraembolic projection, stout and low in this species (thin and longer in S. pterodactyla ). Females are recognized by the reduced spermathecae (Fig. 173).
Description. Male (IBSP 170246). Total length: 4.54. Carapace orange, 2.24 long, 1.58 wide, 1.06 high (Fig. 168). Ocular quadrangle 1.21 long. Anterior eye row 1.15 wide and posterior 1.07 wide. Palp yellow (Figs 169‒170); RvTA reduced and ITA small and granulated; embolus short, pointing prolaterally. Legs 1423, yellow (I orange), only I and IV with dark longitudinal stripes. Length of femur: I 2.18, II 1.47, III 1.47, IV 1.80; patella + tibia: I 2.92, II 1.73, III 1.57, IV 2.16; metatarsus + tarsus: I 2.02, II 1.50, III 1.62, IV 2.10. Spination on ventral tibia I: 2-0-2-2. Abdomen cream-colored, dorsally with a median pair of tufts of white scales on the laterals and a transverse brown stripe on posterior part (Fig. 168); ventrally cream-colored, with a brown spot close to spinnerets.
Female (ex-IBSP 115999). Total length: 3.78. Carapace orange, 1.77 long, 1.05 wide, 0.71 high (Fig. 171). Ocular quadrangle 0.94 long. Anterior eye row 0.94 wide and posterior 0.89 wide. Legs 4132, yellow. Length of femur: I 1.14, II 0.92, III 0.93, IV 1.23; patella + tibia: I 1.48, II 1.07, III 1.07, IV 1.43; metatarsus + tarsus: I 1.09, II 0.92, III 1.07, IV 1.41. Spination as in male. Abdomen as in male, except for the anterior dark portion (Fig. 171). Epigyne as in Figs 172‒173.
