Additional Specimens examined:— AUSTRALIA. Norfolk Island, Red Road, on and amongst Macromitrium on Araucaria , 10 September 1967, D. M. Henderson 9529 ( BM!).
Lejeunea sordida is known from tropical and subtropical rainforests in Queensland and northern New South Wales (Renner 2011). The Henderson collection from 1967 extends the known distribution in Australia to Norfolk Island. The distribution and recognition of this species in Australia is discussed in Renner (2011).
